CBI files first charge sheet in coal blocks allocation case before Delhi court

The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, has filed chargesheet in the coal block allocation scam.

The agency, in its first chargesheet filed in a Delhi court today named a Hyderabad based Navbharat Power Private Limited and its two directors and promoters. They have been charged with cheating and criminal conspiracy. The premier investigation agency has already filed 16 FIRs against companies including AMR Iron and Steel, Jindal Steel and Power and Jharkhand Ispat.

Our correspondent reports, the Supreme Court had asked CBI, during the last hearing on 11th of last month to submit a status report about filing of charge sheet in six of the cases finalised by the agency.

The Apex court had also directed the probe agency to file charge sheet in all the cases finalised by it by first week of March but the agency had moved a petition on 4th of this month seeking more time to file the charge sheet in the cases.
