CBI files FIR against Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Tejinder Singh on Ex-Army Chief Gen. V. K Singh’s complaints

The CBI today filed an FIR against Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Tejinder Singh based on Former Army Chief General (Retired) VK Singh's complaint that he was offered bribe to clear a tranche of substandard vehicles for the Army.

The investigating agency also carried out raids at five places in the national capital after registering the case. The case against Tejinder Singh and unknown persons was registered under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, following prima-facie evidence on the complaint of Gen V.K Singh.

The locations searched by the CBI include the premises of Tejinder Singh and Vectra Group Head Ravinder Rishi. After getting a formal complaint from Former Army Chief Gen V.K Singh, the CBI had initiated a preliminary enquiry in April this year. The then Army chief had alleged that Tejinder Singh

offered him a bribe of 14 crore rupees, a matter he had reported to Defence Minister A K Antony, to clear purchase of nearly 600 all-terrain Tatra BEML trucks in September 2010. During the the preliminary enquiry, the CBI had also questioned Tejinder Singh with regards to allegations leveled by Gen V.K Singh.
