The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed charge-sheet against nine police personnel including two Inspectors in connection with the controversial killing of Chungkham Sanjit, a former militant and a young pregnant woman, Rabina in July last year at Imphal in Manipur.CBI filed the charge-sheet to the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal under section 302, 218, 203 of the Indian Penal Code. The court has taken cognizance of the charge-sheet and issued warrant of arrest against the accused police personnel.The July 23 incident evoked large scale protest among the public and the state government ordered judicial inquiry into the incident. However, protest continued unabated and the state government had to impose curfew in Imphal to control the situation. Later, state government handed over the case to CBI for further investigation.
