CBI files affidavit before SC on probe into coal block allocations

The CBI today filed an affidavit before the Supreme court on its probe into the Coal block allocations. The CBI said, the final affidavit filed by it, is independent and promised not to further share the contents of status report with any political executive. CBI Director Ranjit Sinha stated that the previous draft of the status report was shared with Law Minister Ashwani Kumar as desired by him. In the two page affidavit the CBI also said, the previous draft was also shown to Joint Secretary in PMO and the coal ministry officials.
CBI Director Ranjit Sinha also stated that the final affidavit filed today before the Supreme court today was not shared with any political executive.

Meanwhile the Core group of the Congress party met today following the filing of the CBI affidavit in Supreme Court. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh also held consultations with the UPA leaders on the contents of the CBI Affidavit. After the Core group meeting, Parliamentary Affairs minister Kamalnath ruled out the resignation of the law minister Ashwini Kumar, saying the question does not arise.
Law minister Ashwini Kumar said, that he has not done anything wrong and the truth will prevail.
