The CBI on Thursday decided to file an appeal for enhancement of jail term of convicted former Haryana Police Chief S P S Rathore in the Ruchika molestation case and was examining the possibility of charging the accused with abetment to suicide. The CBI spokesman Harsh Bahal said in New Delhi that six months imprisonment and fine of 1000 rupees is inadequate. He said, the Premier Investigating Agency had consultations with the Home and Law Ministries after which it was decided to file an appeal in the competent court for enhancement of sentence to Rathore.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Home Minister Mr Chidambaram who met Ruchika's family on Wednesday has assured them that once they file an FIR against Rathore on the charges of abetment to suicide , he would look into what the government can do. The Home Minister said that he was unhappy on the way charges were framed and the trial was conducted and promised to look into what the government can do in the matter.<br/><br/>As reported, the Haryana police has already registered two fresh cases against Rathore. He attempted to get an anticipatory bail but failed to get an immediate relief.
