In Karnataka, a CBI court on Tuesday extended till April 27 the judicial custody of former Karnataka Minister and mining baron G Janardhana Reddy and his personal assistant Mehfuz Ali Khan. They are arrested in connection with an illegal mining case. Additional Civil and Sessions Court Judge and CBI special court Judge B M Angadi passed the order after CBI moved an application seeking extension of the custody. In another case, the anticipatory bail application of former Chief Minister of Karnataka, H D Kumaraswamy was adjourned till April 20th by the Karnataka High Court today. Kumaraswamy is seeking bail in the background of a private complaint accusing him of illegally denotifying a piece of land that had been acquired for the formation of Arkavathy layout. Justice K N Keshavanarayana ordered issue of notice to Lokayukta on Tuesday and adjourned the application for further hearing.The Lokayukta Police had filed a chargesheetOn Monday against Kumaraswamy and others in connection with a private complaint. The complainant Mahadevaswamy has alleged that Kumaraswamy denotified 3.8 acres of land in Thanisandra village in 2007 when he was the Chief Minister at the behest of the then Minister Chennigappa, though the Bangalore Development Authority had acquired the land and even formed sites in Arkavathy layout in Bangalore.
