The CBI is conducting raids at the residence of some of those named in the FIR filed in the Adarsh Society scam in Mumbai. Searches are being conducted at the Mumbai residence of promoter of the society RC Thakur and former Congress MLC Kanhaiyalal Gidwani. The searches were also conducted at the Adarsh Housing Society building and office in Mumbai. The CBI yesterday filed an FIR in the case. The CBI began probe in the case after receiving a letter from the Ministry of Defence. Around 10 days ago, the Bombay High Court, while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition, had reprimanded the investigating agency for not filing an FIR. It had directed the CBI to finish the preliminary inquiry within two weeks and decide if it wanted to file an FIR.
