CBI challenges Gujarat lower court judgment on Amit Shah remand

CBI has challenged the order of a lower court rejecting its plea for remand of former Minister Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case in the Gujarat High Court today.Earlier, OP Mathur, former Additional Director General of Police, appeared before the CBI at Gandhinagar for questioning in connection with the case. Mathur was head of the state CID, which was investigating the case before the Supreme Court handed over it to CBI. Special court in Ahmedabad had rejected a CBI application seeking custody of Amit Shah yesterday.AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that Amit Shah, former Minister of state for Home was arrested by CBI for charges of murder, abduction, extortion and conspiracy after he failed to appear before the agency for interrogation last month. He was sent in Sabarmati Jail for 14 days judicial custody.
