The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team in New Delhi has started quizzing the corporate lobbyist Niira Radia. The team of sleuths is accompanied by women officers for the first formal questioning of Radia in irregularities in the allocation of 2G spectrum. She is the owner of Vaishnavi Corporate Communications and three other PR firms. She was allegedly involved in lobbying for A Raja to get him the telecom portfolio. She along with former telecom minister A Raja was served CBI summons yesterday to appear before it for questioning. The CBI yesterday grilled former TRAI chief Pradip Baijal in connection with the 2G spectrum scam. Baijal was the TRAI chairman between 2004 and 2008. He joined Radia's firm in 2009. The Enforcement Directorate too has grilled Radia about her role in the spectrum allocation. Notices were sent to former Telecom Minister A. Raja and Radia among others in connection with the probe into allocation of spectrum to telecom firms that resulted in loss of at least 22,000 crore rupees to the exchequer. The premises of Raja in Delhi and Tamil Nadu as also those of Baijal and Radia were searched by the CBI earlier this month in connection with the case.
