CBI begins questioning Jagan in illegal mining case

The Central Bureau of Investigation has begun questioning Kadappa Lok Sabha member Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the mining irregularities case.

A CBI team headed by Joint Director Lakshminarayana began questioning Jaganmohan Reddy this morning at its Hyderabad office amidst tight security arrangements.

The Central Investigating Agency has issued notices to the MP last month to appear before it for questioning.

According to CBI sources, Jaganmohan Reddy is being questioned over the link between the huge investments in his Publishing Company by a company that was accused of violating mining lease norms relating to Obulapuram Mining Company.

The agency is probing the alleged multi-crore rupees irregularities in the Obulapuram iron ore mining case for the past few months.

Former Karnataka Minister G. Janardhan Reddy and Srinivasa Reddy, who had been accused in the case, are in judicial remand in Hyderabad at present.

The CBI has also questioned recently some of the Cabinet colleagues of the then Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy under whose tenure the licenses were cleared in connection with Obulapurma Mining Company.
