The CBI today began interrogation of Swami Asimanand, an accused in the 2007 Mecca Masjid bomb blast case. Official resources said that the agency took him in to its custody from Chanchalguda Central Prison in Hyderabad. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court there remanded Asimanand to seven days police custody yesterday. He was handed over to the CBI officials today for further interrogation.According to CBI, the 59-year-old Asimanand, whose real name is Naba Kumar Sarkar had been on the run since 2008. He was arrested on November 19 from Haridwar in connection with the blast at the historic masjid in Hyderabad on May 18, 2007. The blast killed nine persons.
