Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI today arrested Trinamool Congress MP Tapas Paul after grilling him for about 4 hours in two phases in connection with the alleged Rose Valley chit fund scam. <br/><br/>CBI sources said, he has been arrested because of incoherent and inconsistent answers and his inability to answer properly and satisfactorily to several questions. <br/><br/>CBI had issued summons to Tapas Pal on December 27 in connection with the alleged scam, which is one of the cases of the chit fund scams being probed by the investigating agency. Meanwhile, TMC, the ruling party in West Bengal has claimed that the arrest of Tapas Paul is the politics of vendetta by the center.<br/><br/>Party General Secretary Partho Chatterjee said the center has taken such a step to obstruct and prevent the agitation and opposition by the TMC leadership against demonetization.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, BJP has rejected West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banrjee's allegation of vendetta politics in the arrest of TMC MP Tapas Paul in the Chit Fund scam case. Party Secretary Sidharth Nath Singh said the CBI is following the law and the Chief Minister should not give it a political twist by questioning the timing.Mr. Singh alleged that the sins of Ms. Banrjee's rule are being exposed by the law.
