CBI has arrested Trinamool MP Mr. Srinjoy Basu in connection with Saradha Chit Fund scam. He was arrested by the CBI in Kolkata on Friday after six hours of interrogation. According to CBI sources the investigating agency found inconsistencies in his statement. Mr. Srinjoy Bose who is also an editor of a Bengali daily, was asked by the CBI to submit documents relating to his paper's agreement with a TV channel belonging to Saradha group.
CBI on Friday also interrogated West Bengal Textile Minister, Shyamapada Mukherjee, and Congress leader Soumen Mitra on Saradha Chit Fuind scam. Mr. Mukherjee was summoned over his dealings with Saradha Chief Sudipto Sen for selling a cement factory in Bankura district.
The West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra who was also summoned by the CBI on Friday, did not comply the orders on health ground. Mr. Mitra was admitted into a government run hospital in Kolkata on Thursday. Srinjoy Basu is the second Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP arrested in the Saradha Chit Fund scam. Earlier Kunal Ghosh, MP was arrested in the case.
