CBI has arrested a Superintendent of Service Tax Commissionerate in New Delhi for allegedly demanding a bribe of one lakh fifty thousand rupees. The Investigating Agency had received a complaint against the accused in this regard following which it laid a trap and the person was caught red handed while accepting the bribe. The agency has registered a case against the accused under Prevention of Corruption. <br/><br/>According to official sources, it is alleged that the accused was demanding a bribe of 2.5 lakh rupees from the complainant for not raising a demand for service tax liability in respect of his tour and travel company. The CBI also conducted searches at the office residential premises of the accused which led to recovery of Fixed Deposit Receipts of nearly 35 lakh rupees and documents of immovable properties at different places in the national capital.
