The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI on Monday arrested Principal Home Secretary of Andhra Pradesh Government, B P Acharya in a case relating to alleged irregularities in land transfers.
The senior IAS officer was produced before a special CBI court later and remanded for two days with the Central investigating agency. The CBI had called Acharya to its office for questioning this morning and later taken him into custody. The CBI has named Acharya as the first accused in the alleged irregularities of land transfer to a township in Hyderabad in the year 2005. The IAS officer has been questioned several times since August last year in the case.
Acharya was the Managing Director of the state owned Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation which jointly with a Dubai based Company, developed the township.
