The Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI has arrested Manoranjana Singh, the estranged wife of former Union Minister and Congress leader Mr. Matang Singh and a Kolkata-based businessman Shantanu Ghosh in connection with the multi-crore Saradha Chit Fund scam. The two were arrested yesterday after sustained interrogation for over two hours. Mr Matang Singh is already in CBI custody.<br/><br/> Shantanu Ghosh had earlier been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate and remained in custody for more than two months before getting bail in August last year. He had also been interrogated by the CBI a few more times earlier. The CBI is said to have recovered a series of e-mails between the Saradha Kingpin and Manoranjana Singh which reveals the latest involvement in the chit fund scam. <br/><br/>Shantanu Ghosh is alleged to have duped Sudipto Sen of nearly 25 crore rupees and he is also said to have blackmailed and threatened Sudipto Sen. Allegations of duping the Saradha boss by Matang Singh and his estranged wife have also come to light.

CBI has arrested Manoranjana Sinh, wife of former Union Minister Matang Sinh, in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam. The agency has arrested Manoranjana, a former journalist, for allegedly taking money from Saradha Group Chairman Sudipto Sen by threatening him. CBI sources said, she has been accused of misappropriation of funds, cheating and criminal conspiracy. Matang Sinh is already under judicial custody in the case.<br/><br/>Besides Manoranjana, the CBI yesterday arrested businessman Santanu Ghosh in connection with the scam. Alleged mastermind of the scam, Shantanu Sen has claimed that Ghosh had pressurised him to purchase his automobile company which had huge liabilities. Both the arrested accused are likely to be produced in Alipore court in Kolkata today.
