The two top executives responsible for organising the Commonwealth Games, Lalit Bhanot and V K Varma were arrested yesterday by the Central Bureau of Investigation. The duo were arrested after they were summoned to the CBI headquarters and subjected to questioning. Both have been arrested for irregularities in a 107 crore contract to a Swiss company for time-keeping equipment during the October 2010 Games. Bhanot has been booked by the probe agency under the sections for criminal conspiracy and cheating the IPC and various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, along with Switzerland-based firm Swiss Timing Ltd and other unknown persons.
