Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI, Friday arrested a superintending engineer of Central Public Works Department, CPWD, for demanding and accepting a bribe of 33 lakh rupees. The engineer Vinod Kumar Asol sought bribe from a Visakhapatnam based infrastructure company for clearing its bills, release of mobilisation advance and payment for the construction and work of a multipurpose building worth 210 crore rupees in National Information Technology in Imphal. The Director (Project) of the company was also arrested. <br/><br/>CBI teams also carried out raids at 8 places in Delhi, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Dehradun, Lucknow, Imphal and Vishakhapatnam. CBI sources said that the agency has seized cash of 19 lakh rupees and a large number of incriminating documents from the guesthouse in Gurgaon where the Director (Project) was staying. Both the arrested accused will be produced in the Designated Court in Delhi today.
