CBI has arrested three officials of Central Excise for allegedly accepting a bribe of three lakh rupees to minimise duty on a company under scrutiny. The agency registered the case on a complaint alleging that the two Superintendents and an Inspector of central Excise visited the office premises of the complainant's company to conduct audit. <br/><br/>During audit, they allegedly raised many objections like double billing, evasion of Excise Duty and they informed the complainant that penalty of 25 to 30 lakh rupees would be imposed on the company. The complaint alleged that the accused told to pay bribe of 10 lakh rupees in order to minimise the duty and penalty. CBI laid a trap and caught the three officer while demanding and accepting bribe of three lakh rupees from the complainant.
