CBI aims to hit corruption roots: Chief

CBI director Aswini Kumar said the motive of the agency is to hit at the roots of the corruption system. Inaugurating the three-day training module for media persons in Chennai, he said the CBI abides by the Supreme Court decision on narco test analysis. He pointed out that till now no such tests have been conducted without getting the approval of the accused as well as Courts.<br/><br/>Replying to a query on pending of cases in courts, he said that 71 courts have been added this year making it up to a total of 117 courts through out the country.<br/><br/><br/>Expressing concern on the changing face of the criminals adapting modern technology, Kumar said that the CBI has been equipped with state of the art technology to respond to the challenge. He affirmed that this year, more priority would be given to issues relating to human trafficking of women and children. <br/><br/>As people are reposing confidence in the organization it would be appropriate to address shortage in manpower prevailing within. At present CBI disposes 1100 cases a year. But still there is a backlog of 300 cases per year.
