CBI aims to hit corruption roots: Aswini Kumar

Seeking to redefine its role and image, the CBI says the focus will now shift to make the agency more people centric and accountable. Priority will be given in tackling organized crimes.<br/> <br/>In an exclusive interview to AIR Chennai correspondent, Director CBI Ashwini kumar said the agency would crack the whip against those involved in making spurious drugs, adulteration of edible items and petroleum products. He said efforts are being made to launch a campaign against human trafficking of women and children.<br/><br/>Elaborating on the thrust areas of the agency this year, the CBI director said the agency will take steps in areas of inter-state and international economic crimes. <br/><br/>For speedy disposal of cases, he said 71 more courts including 3 at Chennai will be created and they will start functioning by the end of this year. Earlier, the CBI director inaugurated a three day module session for the media persons organized by the CBI and Press Information Bureau.
