CBFC demands apology from Tamilnadu Advocate General

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has said that that every action taken and the procedure followed by it for certifying Vishwaroopam or any other film has been done in accordance with the Act and Rules framed by the Parliament.

In a press statement issued in Mumbai, the CBFC has termed baseless and irresponsible the statement of Tamil Nadu Advocate General Navaneetha Krishnan calling the film certification process 'a scam'.

The CBFC has also condemned the statement of Advocate Sankarasubu calling the Board members 'purchasable commodities' terming it utterly reprehensible and grossly defamatory.

The CBFC has called upon the Advocate General Krishnan and Advocate Sankarasubu to issue an apology for the statements made by them.

The CBFC in its statement also stated that the CBFC has been functioning since 1951 and there are judicial precedents upholding the legality of the certification process.
