CBEC to organise fortnight-long camps across the country to fast-track GST refunds to exporters

Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) is organising fortnight long camps across the country from today to fast-track GST refunds to exporters.

GST was rolled out across the country from 1st of July last year. The exporters have been complaining of delay in the GST refunds, which have blocked their working capital. The CBEC has already given refunds to the tune of 5 thousand crore rupees but as much as 70 per cent of total refunds to exporters is still stuck.

CBEC Chairperson Vanaja Sarna had earlier said that there are instances of exporters committing errors while filing refund claims. She said the department has started giving out refunds partially with manual intervention to help them. She said, refund problem of the exporters will be explained in the camps and will be asked to rectify it. Ms Sarna hoped that by 31st of this month all pending refunds as far as exporters are concerned will be sorted out.
