In Uttar Pradesh, the CB-CID has lodged an F.I.R against 17 police personnel in Ballia district in connection with a fake encounter case. According to reports, a youth was killed in an encounter in 2005 whom the police had claimed to be part of a gang of robbers. Later, the state CB-CID investigated the case and found it was a fake encounter.
