The Cauvery Supervisory Committee, headed by Union Water Resources Secretary Shashi Shekhar met in New Delhi today to decide on the quantum of water to be released to Tamil Nadu and other states. <br/><br/>Besides Mr Shekhar, the meeting was attended by officials of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry governments. <br/><br/>The meeting comes in the backdrop of Supreme Court asking Tamil Nadu on 5th of this month to approach the committee over the issue. <br/><br/>Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court had asked Karnataka to release 12,000 cusecs Cauvery water per day, down from previous 15,000 cusecs, to Tamil Nadu till 20th of this month.
