Karnataka Chief Minister, Jagdish Shettar have informed that the state will proceed legally against the Contempt petition filed by Tamil Nadu with regard to release of Cauvery water from Karnataka.
He pointed out that it has become physically impossible to release any more water to Tamil Nadu. Terming September 19th Cauvery River Authority (CRA) order as unjustified, he said, release of water has led to serious consequences in terms of meeting drinking water and irrigation needs of the state.
He pointed out that CRA should have issued order only after studying the ground reality in Cauvery basin. He regretted that the state appeal in this regard was not considered by the Prime Minister before issuing orders.
