Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar has convened an all-party meeting today to discuss Supreme Court verdict to release 9,000 cusecs of Cauvery water everyday to neighbouring Tamil Nadu. The meeting is likely to discuss the impact of court order on the state. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah has felt that the state had failed to represent its cause properly in the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile in Mandya district, the Cauvery agitation by farmers and Kannada protagonist organisations took to the streets in protest against the apex court order.
Road traffic and rail services in Mandya, Maddur and Srirangapatna towns were affected. Karnataka has already filed a plea before the Cauvery River Authority seeking review of its order for releasing 9,000 cusecs to Tamil Nadu till October 15. Several organisations in Bangalore are holding protests against release of water.
