Oil prices rose today. In intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading at 75 dollars and 48 cents per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was trading at 70 dollars and 58 cents per barrel when reports last came in.

In the forex market, the Indian rupee closed at 83 rupees and 33 paise against the US dollar. The dollar index, which indicates the US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, was down, to trade at 102.42 in intra-day trade.
