Rupee rises by 26 paise against US dollar

The Rupee gained 26 paise to rise to a new one-month high of 47.97 against the US Dollar in the opening trade on Thursday. Yesterday, the rupee closed 40 paise higher at 48.23. Dealers attributed persistent rise in the rupee to strong rally in equities.

Oil prices fall in Asian trade

Oil fell slightly in Asian trade on Thursday. New York's light sweet crude fell seven cents to 72.44 dollars a barrel while Brent North Sea crude was five cents lower at 71.62 dollars a barrel.
