Gold price crashes 140 rupees, stays at 16,940 per ten grams

Snapping a three-day rally, gold lost 140 rupees, to 16,940 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market, today. Silver ready dropped 275 rupees, to 25,600 rupees per kilo.Gold fell 4.50 dollars, to 1,112.60 dollars an ounce, in New York last evening.

Sensex closes a modest 49 points higher at 16,286
