The rupee depreciated further by 2 paise against the dollar. At the Forex market, the rupee eased by 2 paise to 46.26 a dollar. The rupee had closed 3 paise lower at 46.24 a dollar in the previous session.

Oil prices rose above 79 USD a barrel today in Asia. Benchmark crude for April delivery was up 34 cents to 79.20 USD a barrel at midday Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract had lost 1.45 USD to settle at USD 78.86 yesterday.

Snapping a three-day rally, gold lost 140 rupees, to 16,940 rupees per ten grams at Delhi's bullion market. Silver ready dropped 275 rupees, to 25,600 rupees per kilo.Gold fell 4.50 dollars, to 1,112.60 dollars an ounce, in New York last evening.
