Sensex trading below 17k

The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange opened in the red, on Friday morning, and had lost 213 points or 1.3 percent, at 16,775, a short while ago. Stocks fell across-the-board, as other Asian markets lost ground, today, on debt worries in the euro- zone, and after a rout in US stocks, overnight.

Oil prices higher in Asian trade

Oil prices were higher in Asian trade today after falling sharply in recent days. New York's light sweet crude was up 25 cents to 80.22 dollars a barrel, while Brent North Sea crude gained 18 cents to 82.79 dollars a barrel.
