The Chief Justice of India K.G.Balakrishnan has underlined the need for smooth implementation of constitutional provisions related to welfare of the weaker sections of society. <br/><br/>Delivering Dr B.R Ambedkar Memorial Lecture on Constitutional Values and the Promotion of Labour Welfare in New Delhi on Monday, Justice Balakrishnan said that caste- based discrimination still remains a fact of life but there has been considerable progress in the life of disadvantaged sections. He also spoke about the provisions in the Constitution which have a bearing on labour welfare.<br/><br/> Justice Balakrishnan also outlined about some legislations which have been passed in recent years with the objective of improving the conditions of those engaged in the unorganised sector.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Mukul Wasnik said that the vision and values of the Constitution are facing challenges which should be protected at any costs from such challenges. He said that the role played by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in his different capacities has left a lasting imprint on the social and Political tapestry of India.<br/>
