Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh was today granted interim bail till September 19 on health grounds by a Delhi court in the 2008 cash-for-vote scam. The 55-year-old former Samajwadi Party leader was granted interim bail by Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal. Singh was in judicial custody for nine days.
He was arrested on September 6 after he appeared in court in response to its summons for his alleged role in the scam. Singh, who had undergone a kidney transplant, was subsequently sent to AIIMS on September 12 following complaints of vomiting and diarrhea.
The court granted him bail on furnishing a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh and a surety of the same amount. The court is slated to hear Singh's regular bail plea on September 19.
