Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi today said triple talaq cases have come down drastically after the enactment of the Muslim Women Protection of Rights on Marriage Act.<br />''<br />''Addressing Muslim women from across the country at an event marking the first anniversary after the enactment of the law, Mr Naqvi said the present government at centre made it a criminal offence thus bolstering self-reliance and self-confidence among Muslim women.<br />''<br />''He said, Modi government is committed to political empowerment of women and not political exploitation. Mr Naqvi said August 1st is the day on which Muslim women were freed from the social evil of triple talaq and it has been recorded in the country's history as Muslim Women's Rights Day.<br />''<br />''Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, more than 20 Muslim countries even regulated the Triple Talaq but it took so long here.Women and Child Development minister Smriti Irani said Muslim Women Protection of Rights on Marriage Act empowered and strengthened Muslim women of the country.<br />
