The Carter Center has praised Nepal for successfully conducting parliament and provincial elections. Releasing its preliminary report in Kathmandu on Saturday about recently concluded elections the center commended authorities, particularly Election Commission of Nepal for organizing elections within the constitutional deadline despite political tensions, logistical and operational challenges and tight timelines. It also appreciated Election Commission for its efforts to ensure maximum participation by allowing 1.4 million additional registrations and voting without a voter ID. However, Center expressed concern about lack of representation for women and minorities. It also said that hundreds of thousands of polling staff and security personnel were unable to exercise their right to vote is a significant issue and not in accordance with previous Nepali practice or international standards.<br/>'<br/>The Carter Center observed both phases of elections held on November 26 and December 7 for House of Representative and Provincial Assemblies in Nepal. The Center will release its final report after completion of the entire electoral process.
