A cargo ship en route from Turkey to Israel sank last night in stormy waters in the Mediterranean Sea, just 80 km offshore of its destination. Local news service Ynet report today said 12 crew members are missing and one has been rescued. It said Israel received a distress signal sent from the Salla 2 freighter early this morning in response to which it alerted NATO ships sailing in the area. One NATO ship succeeded in rescuing a crew member who was found floating on a life rafts. Search and rescue teams, including the Israeli coast guard, are currently searching for the missing crew members as well as the ship.<br/>
