In Afghanistan, a suicide car bomb detonated near an army base in the eastern province of Khost today, killing one soldier and wounding several others. <br/><br/>Sabari District chief, Akbar Zadran, said the Army repelled the attack and 4 gunmen were killed after an hour-long gun battle.The blast damaged several shops, homes and a school.<br/><br/>In a statement, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack and said it had caused heavy casualties. <br/>
