In Iraq, five civilian were killed and 15 others wounded in car bomb attack in central Baghdad today. Voice of Iraq news agency quoting an interior ministry source has reported that incident occurred when a car with bomb parked at al-Maydan square, central Baghdad, went off, near the old building of the defence ministry followed by a suicide attack with a car bomb. The number of casualties is likely to increase. According to official spokesman for the Baghdad Operations Command Maj. General Qassem Atta however said that two soldiers were killed and eight civilians wounded in a car bomb blast that targeted the old building of the defence ministry.The terrorists have once again struck in Iraq after the withdrawal of US combat troops from Iraq. As per the security agreement between Iraqi government and United States, 50,000 soldiers remain in the war-troubled oil-rich country for consultancy and training purposes. The mounting acts of violence took place as the government formation crisis is still going on amidst differences flaring up among the three top political blocs over the prime minister post. US officials want early formation of new Iraqi government and they have regularly been warning aboAut the dangers of an upsurge in violence if negotiations on forming a new government drag on.
