Satyasheel Yadav, a BSF jawan who was captured in Pakistani territory after being swept away by the currents of the Chenab river in Jammu region, will be handed over by Pakistani Rangers to BSF authorities today. The assurance came from Pakistani authorities after a company commander level flag meeting was held yesterday between the Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers. Sources added that the stipulated time of handover of the Indian trooper has been set at 3 P.M. after completing some formalities.
Sources said Yadav is in good condition and is understood to have gone through some rounds of questioning by Pak intelligence and security sleuths.
India has taken up the issue of the return of the BSF constable with Pakistan through diplomatic channels as well. The Ministry of External Affairs has summoned Pakistan's Deputy High Commissioner to India and raised the issue.
Satyasheel Yadav was out on patrol with three other BSF personnel in the Paragwal-Khour sub-sector of general area Akhnoor on Wednesday around 11 A.M. when the boat, they were travelling in, developed a problem.
Yadav was swept away in the strong current as the rope holding him snapped. He subsequently swayed to the Sialkot sector of Pakistan, where he was picked up by villagers and handed over to the Pakistan Rangers.
