Captain of MV Khailijia 3 files anticipatory bail petition

The captain of MV Khailijia 3, Laxman Dubey today filed an anticipatory bail petition in Mumbai’s session’s court. Last week in his bail petition, the captain of MSC Chitra, Mr. M Ranjit Martin had alleged that the collision between the two cargo ships had occurred due to the fault and negligence of the Master of MV Khalijia. The captain and crew members of both the vessels have been booked under various sections of the IPC and Environment Protection Act including section 280 accounting for rash navigation of vessel, 336 for endangering life of others and 427 for mischief causing damage. In his petition, Mr. Dubey has said that there was no intention or motive for the collision. The hearing is expected to come up on Tuesday.
