South Africa recorded a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Australia in the first Cricket Test at Cape Town on Friday. On the third day of the match, resuming their second innings at the overnight score of 81 for one, the hosts reached the victory target of 236 before lunch. South African captain Smith became the first player inhistory to score four centuries in winning fourth innings run chases. While Smith remained unbeaten on 101, his overnight partner Hashim Amla was out for 112. The two put on 195 for the second wicket. South Africa now lead the two-Test series One-Nil. The final scores: Australia – 284 and 47South Africa – 96 and 236 for two.
