Candidates appearing for AIPMT can wear religious of customary dresses: CBSE

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said that candidates appearing for All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) can wear religious or customary dresses including burqas.

In a notification issued yesterday, the Board suggested a dress code asking candidates to wear light clothes, half sleeves without big buttons, brooches, etc and also sandals or slippers instead of shoes.

It, however, added that candidates wearing their customary or religious dresses should report to their centres by 8.30 am for proper frisking. The decision comes after several organisations appealed to the CBSE for relaxing ban on long sleeves and veils.

The ban was introduced last year and upheld by the Supreme Court after the test was cancelled and re-conducted amid reports of cheating.
