Canadian citizen feared abducted in Odisha; Sushma Swaraj seeks report from Odisha govt

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said she has spoken to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik regarding the reported abduction of a Canadian national in Koraput district of Odisha. The Minister said, she has asked for a report on the matter from the state government. The Canadian national is reportedly untraceable from the Maoist affected Chhattisgarh-Odisha border region. Police of both states are trying to trace out his identity and whereabouts. <br/> '<br/>Our correspondent reports police in the Chhattisgarh- Odisha border region is on high alert following unconfirmed reports that the Canadian national John Schlazak might have come to Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The missing Canadian national is reported to be a member of Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada-IRCC. Special DG – Naxal Operations D.M. Awasthi said, the Foreign national is not kidnapped from the region.<br/> '<br/>Meanwhile, Bastar In-Charge Inspector General of police Sunderraj P said, no foreign national had registered about his presence in Bastar division. He said, as of now there is no information about the abduction from this region. He said, police is trying to verify the facts.
