Canada is planning to close the 25-year-old bombing case of Air India's Kanishka flight by offering ex-gratia payments to family members of the victims. 329 people were killed in the worst terrorist attack in the country. Public Safety Minister Vic Toews and Immigration Minister Jason Kenney spoke with relatives of the victims of the 1985 Kanishka bombing last week. He assured them ex-gratia payment of up to 25,000 dollars before the end of the year. In June this year, Justice John Major released a voluminous report into the bombing, detailing how the federal government and Canada's national security agencies bungled the case both before and after the attack.
