In Assam, with the completion of the first phase of polling smoothly in 62 Assembly constituencies of the State on Monday, the focus is now diverted towards the second phase of polling going to be held on 11th of this month. 64 constituencies comprising 14 districts in lower part of Assam and the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) are to be covered in this phase of election. Altogether 496 candidates, including 47 women nominees are in the fray in this phase. AIR Guwahati Correspondent reports that with only four days remaining in hand for campaigning, the leaders of almost all the political parties are making a rush in different constituencies. The All India Congress general secretary and Lok Sabha Member Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address three election rallies at Chaygaon, Majbat and Raha constituencies on Tuesday. The Delhi Chief Minister Shiela Dixit is also addressing two election meetings at Guwahati on Tuesday. Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Shahnawaz Hussain, Film star Shatrughan Sinha and Smriti Irani are also addressing a series of meetings in the poll-bound constituencies on Tuesday. The Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is campaigning for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the State. Latest report says that over 73 per cent polling was recorded in the first phase of assembly polls in Assam. Two polling stations in Naoboicha constituency reported hundred percent polling.
