In Assam, political parties are leaving no stone unturned to woo voters as campaigning has reached its peak. Campaigning for the second and final phase of elections will end tomorrow. 64 Constituencies spread over 14 districts in lower Assam will go to polls in this phase. AIR Correspondent reports that top leaders of Congress, BJP, Assam Gana Parishad and All India United Democratic Front are making whirlwind tours to address election meetings. Meanwhile, around 61 per cent voters exercised their franchise in the repolling held in 10 polling centres in six Assembly segments in Barak Valley. In Tamil Nadu, the campaigning has further intesified with national leaders joining the fray. Door to door campaigning, road shows and public rallies are being held in almost all the 32 districts of the state. In Puducherry, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that the UPA Government at the Centre will use all the forces to alleviate poverty and achieve inclusive growth in the country. Addressing a public meeting at Villianoor yesterday, he said the faster growth should benefit the poor and that is why all programmes are targeting poor and weaker sections of the Society. In Kerala, Top national leaders of various political parties continued to tour the state to campaign for their party candidates. AIR correspondent reports that the state will go to polls on the 13th of this month. Altogether 300 nominations have been filed for second phase of elections to the West Bengal State Assembly to be held on the 27th of this month. Elections in this phase would be held in Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas Districts. For the fourth phase of poll to be held on the third of next month, up to now 11 nominations have been filed. Speaking to newspersons the state Additional Chief Electoral Officer Mr. N.K.Sahana said that, the Election Commission is keeping no stone unturned to ensure free and fair elections.
