Campaigning in full swing in WB for fifth, sixth phases of Assembly elections

Campaigning is on in full swing for the fifth and the sixth phases of Assembly elections in West Bengal. Addressing a series of election rallies in Bankura, Purulia and West Medinipur districts, Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee said that the Left rule has done very little for the development of these districts despite being in power for the last 34 years. The CPIM leader and Housing Minister Gautam Deb denied the charge. In the public rally in West Medinipur district today, he said, the Left alone can provide real development to the people.Thirty-eight seats in the Naxal-prone districts of Purulia, Bankura and West Medinipore including 12 in Burdwan will go to poll on Saturday, while in the final phase voting will take place on the 10th of this month in 14 seats of the Maoists-infested districts.
