Campaigning gradually picks up for Tripura Assembly poll; Meghalaya and Nagaland also ready for elections

In Tripura the election process is gearing up with the finalisation of the list of the contesting candidates, and the voters list. All arrangements are being made for peaceful election in State on 14th of February.

The Final Voter list for the upcoming Tripura poll, which was published on 12th of January, is further updated as part of the continuous updation process. The number of voters included to the Voter list on the basis of continuous updation has added another 7 thousand 4 hundred 83 voters.

Thus the Final Voters for the upcoming Assembly Poll of Tripura to be held on 14th of February stands at 23 Lakh 55 thousand and 446.While in Comparison to last assembly election 3 Lakhs 17 thousand 4 hunder 45 voters have increased. While in last assembly elections it was 20 Lakhs 38 thousand and 1 voters (2038001), and this time total voters stands at 23 lakhs 55 thousand and 446 (2355446).

The number of polling station has also increased from 2391 for last Assembly Election to 3041 for the Present Assembly election. This year, Nirajoy Tripura is the oldest contesting candidate with age of 85 years and Satiram Reang and Chayendra Reang are the youngest candidates at the age of 26 years for 2013 polls informed CEO Tripura.

Our Agartala correspondent reports the State election Department has started sending 3900 EVM’s from today and by tomorrow all the EVM’s will reach the respected offices of the Returning officers in the state. Chief Election officer, Tripura, Asutosh Jindal said that from the district warehouses, the EVM’s are being sent today to all the 44 Returning officers in the state.
