Campaigning gains momentum for first phase of elections in WB

In West Bengal, campaigning is gaining momentum for the first phase of Assembly elections going to be held on Monday. Polling will take place in 54 Assembly seats spread across six North Bengal districts of the state in this phase. Over 97 lakhs 44 thousand voters will decide the political fate of 364 aspirtants. Leaders of various political parties are campaigning to woo voters. The AICC President and UPA Chairperson, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi addressed an election rally at Jalpaiguri in the forenoon. Our Correspondent reports that the BJP President, Mr. Nitin Gadkari addressed election rallies in Siliguri yesterday. The Trinamul Congress chief, Ms. Mamata Banerjee also took part in election rallies for her party nominees in Siliguri. The CPI(M) State Secretary, Mr. Biman Basu campaigned at South Dinajpur district.
